Jean joined the Peninsula Shepherd Center family 27 years ago when her husband Bob was transferred back to San Diego. Jean had been working at a senior housing complex in New Jersey and became acquainted with the Shepherd Center of America concept. The Executive Director at PSC was retiring and Jean stepped in to take over in 1992. She retired in 2010 and became active with the Peninsula YMCA to establish a senior program. While still on the board, Jean returned to PSC in 2105 as a part time Program Coordinator. She was elected President of the Board in 2018. Bob, also a PSC Volunteer, and Jean have three grown children and three grandchildren. Jean finds great joy in working with our senior members and looks forward to continuing to expand PSC services.

President

JEAN DURGAN

John has been involved with The Peninsula Shepherd Center for over 20 years. He was introduced to PSC by Jean Durgan who was Executive Director at the time. During his career John had many jobs with the federal government, lastly with Configuration Management. His  goal at retirement was to be a PSC volunteer driver and has done that ever since. John currently is Secretary of the PSC Board. He is very involved in his church; mainly visiting the sick, as well as, serving in many other capacities.  His hobby is gardening.  The PSC staff looks forward to the flowers he brings each week! John and his wife have two grown children and two out of town grandsons, who they love to visit.

As Vice President of the Peninsula Shepherd Center and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Meals on Wheels San Diego County, Peggy Strand has a passion for helping seniors age in place in their own homes.  From providing transportation to appointments and grocery shopping to making sure seniors receive a wellness check when nutritious meals are delivered, Peggy understands the importance of the social interaction and the reduction in isolation that are so important to healthy aging.  As governmental funding sources for senior services are trimmed, both PSC and MOWSDC will continue to provide seniors with assistance in living independently.  Peggy is a retired attorney.

Vice President

PEGGY STRAND

Kimberly is a Point Loma/Ocean Beach Native.  She raised her family in Point Loma and has been active in her support for Peninsula Shepherd Center for about a decade before she joined the board in 2018 and became Treasurer in 2019. Kimberly has more than 35 years of multi-faceted real estate experience and currently works for Willis Allen Real Estate in Point Loma. She became a Seniors Real Estate Specialist and always advocates for her clients in their real estate transactions. In her free time Kimberly and her husband enjoy spending time with their 6 grandchildren and walking their dog, Bosco. Peninsula Shepherd Center is special to Kimberly because she has seen how instrumental PSC is in providing the transportation and socialization link that is so vital for our area seniors to not feel isolated or alone.
